GrapheneOS, the operating system with true privacy for Android
GrapheneOS is a privacy-focused mobile operating system built on Android, with a focus on improving the privacy and security of the OS from the bottom up. Founded in 2014 as CopperheadOS, it deploys advanced technologies to mitigate vulnerabilities and make exploiting them more difficult. Its security features are designed to avoid impacting user experience, with the aim of being always enabled with no additional configuration options. GrapheneOS provides various privacy and security-focused apps and services such as a hardened variant of the Chromium browser, a minimal security-focused PDF Viewer, a hardware-based Auditor app, and the Seedvault encrypted backup. GrapheneOS does not include Google Play services, but users can install them via its sandboxed Google Play compatibility layer.
